Two Men/Husbands/Hearts

Nope I'm not talking about my hubby.

In a span of a week, I counselled two men. It is a refreshing change as I usually only get the ladies/wives. And to have to such forthcoming men, it is indeed rare! But they are SO different. And their motivation to see a counsellor is also different. Both not locals, one of them wanted my "endorsement" so that he can justify that his wife is not worthy of him, not keeping up with his pace and is an embarrassment to him. He wanted out, but wanted to do it in a manner he thinks is blameless. A chauvinist! The poor wife has been trying so hard to be the woman of his bewildering dreams - to no avail, cos she is just not like that! How long can you really change yourself to wear into a humansuit that doesn't fit you?

The 2nd husband, is quite different.
He is thinking of ending it all. His wife is not meeting his needs. There has hardly been any communication for the most part of their marriage and yet when he was lying in hospital, she said the most insensitive and uncaring thing to him - that it didn't matter if he was alive. He has tried so long, so hard. All he wanted was a word of affirmation. But he hasn't heard any and he probably won't - at least not from her. The wife is not looking at the issue, she thinks he is making a mountain out of a molehill. She feels there's nothing she needs to change and it's his good fortune that they are married. It's scary to leave in such denial, especially in the eyes of destruction created by your own hands, and yet, you remain unfeeling, unmoved, unconvinced.

What makes two people fall in love? What makes they stay in love?
When do you decide that enough is enough or that you should keep on trying and giving chances? How can anyone get so high and mighty that everyone is beneath you?
I have no idea.
