What is contentment to me?
To lie in bed with my two babies, breathing in the same rhythm, the same tempo, watching their little tummies rise & fall, knowing that they sleep in peace and safety. Smelling their hair, touching their little palms, kissing their foreheads, whispering sweet dreams into their ears.
To watch my other baby (the big one) work on the song arrangement for leading worship tomorrow in church, seeing his concentration, his quiet passion and confidence, feeling his adamance for excellence unto the Lord, and occasionally catching his eyes looking at me too :)
To witness the amazing growth of the plants in the balcony, watching the stems grow in directions that they choose themselves, providing care (ie: water and lite and some botanical TLC), watch our flower bloom - as if it is stretching its arms as wide as it could, knowing that it is responding to our nurturing.
To look at 5 hungry co-workers gobble down my rendition of a shepherd's pie, hearing their chomping, seeing their faces of satisfaction.. :) To have the liberty and confidence in sharing with them my heart, my fears, my dreams, my struggles and to gain their understanding of my heart after that. Gosh. I am humbled.
To ponder about the Hands of the Father, what He has done in the lives of people I care and love, in my own life, watching how things have their own way of working out (or maybe it's His way), trying to see what His next better step is - cos the latter will be greater! And knowing in assurance that He knows what He is doing and His ways will always be better than mine.
This is contentment.
