One of the things we love about residing in the neighbourhood of Bishan besides the great accessibility to everywhere we frequent, is the neighbourhood library. I can't remember how it started, but Megan loves reading. In fact, she is quite the reading machine - clocking up to about 10 books a week, sometimes more. So having the library so nearby is really a great relief, especially when you realise a dvd or a book is due today!
We go to the library every Tuesday morning. Because it opens at 10am, we get to make our way there at our leisurely pace and spend time choosing books she likes. I also pick books up for Joe - but his repertoire and types of books he likes are quite different from Zeze's. He prefers the ones to do with animals mostly - he's currently into Ice Age creatures, like the sabre-tooth cats, the mammoth and so forth. :P Meg's finished a few series of books already and is constantly looking for other interesting ones. We know that one of the reasons she does so well in school is really because of her love for reading. She'd wake up early, just so that she can continue reading the book she had to reluctantly put down the nite before. Her stash of vocabulary has also grown tremendously since she became a bookworm. :) In fact, she was hoping that one of her school's CCA would be "Library" so that she could read as many books as she wanted without the hassle of borrowing them. haha... But nope, it's not on the CCA list.
On a sidenote, we found a note, obviously left behind by a child who was also reading the same Roald Dahl book Meg was reading. He/she was sounding very frustrated with the instructions that's been thrown at him/her.

she nags at me to sleep early every night. I take more than an hour to fall asleep. from the time I hit the bed with a book til I actually fall asleep.
