It's truly not easy to be a student these days. Alan and I really feel for our children. Let's see. See the following list of to-dos we came up with on their behalf:
1. Complete their daily homework.
2. Remember which teacher is teaching what subject and what subject is on for which days.
3. Remember their register numbers, sitting places, duty rosters.
4. Learn weekly Ting Xie and Spelling.
5. Prepare bi-weekly "Show and Tell".
6. Which day wear PE uniform and which day wear formal uniform.
7. Remember to take pocket money everyday.
8. Pass administrative letters and forms, worksheets and books for mom and dad to sign.
9. Remember to go library and borrow books weekly and fill up library record form.
10. Differentiate between Hanyu Pinyin and Phonics.
11. Remember that they are the Monitor/Monitress of their class and be responsible at all times.
12. Carry out teacher's duties.
13. Learn school's character values.
14. Remember what was taught during devotions.
15. Run, jump, roll during PE and Gym classes.
16. Sleep at 9pm, wake at 8am.
17. Find time to play.
18. Find time to remind mom and dad that they love them.
19. Bathe and brush teeth twice a day.
20. ETC...
I think Megan's more or less gotten used to her routine, like which day must do what. Joseph still has some way to go. My heart goes out to him when I go check on him after he sleeps every nite. Sometimes he has a frown on his forehead. I think he must miss carefree days of not having any responsibilities or duties. When friends are just friends, not competitors. When schoolwork is just fun learning and not marks.
