Our little girl just turned 7 last Sunday. :) Every birthday, we will attempt to get her a gift that's different and special. If you follow our blog, you'll also notice that we always list out their birthday wishlists. Our children are so blessed. Almost always, everything on the wishlists would be taken up by family and friends. It is no wonder why they really really look forward to their birthdays. :)
This year, we decided to get her a special stuffed toy by going through the Build-A-Bear workshop experience. We blindfolded her on the way there, and we were pleasantly surprised the BABW workshop staff caught on very quickly, they shouted "Surprise!!!" without us having to prompt them. :)
So how does it work?
First, you choose a stuff toy you like. Megan had eye-balled the long-earred bunny since awhile ago. Imagine her staring at it each time we walked past one of these shops. So this decision didn't take too long. But it was flat, with no stuffing inside. So the lady got Meg to choose if she wanted her bunny hard and firm or soft and cuddly. Of course she chose soft and cuddly! You can see in the pics below, how the bunny was stuffed. Even in her paws, limbs, and tail! :) Together with the stuffing, there's a tag where Meg got to write her name in that was stuffed inside too.
Another special thing about this Bunny, she has two hearts! The lady was so thoughtful. She saw Joseph looking longingly at the whole process and involved him. They were told to choose a heart each, whisper a wish each on the little hearts, and then stuff them into the bunny too.
Another characteristic of a toy from this shop is that after the chosen stuffed toy is named, she will then be clothed. Meg chose a cool pink top and a pair of shorts with a lacey hairband - stuff she has too! :) There are a million other peripherals one could've gotten for their stuffed pals - shoes, bags, sunnies, belts, panties, strollers! Makes me wonder why I didn't think of and start this business first! haha...
After the bunny wore her clothes, we decided that it wasn't neccessary for her to wear shoes too (but more becos we were watching our budget!!). That was when Megan named her Rebekah. Rebekah Sim was registered with a Birth Certificate and we were told that if she was ever lost and IF the person who finds her returns her to a BABW, they will unstitch her back and take out the tag with Meg's particulars and send it back to her! Restuffing services are available FOC too. :) I'm sold! haha..
To complete the whole experience, the staff, all 4 of them gathered around Megan and sang her an exclusive BABW birthday song. You should've seen her happy face. I was too busy watching her smiling from ear-to-ear, I forgot to take pics of them singing!
Yup, so the family has a new addition, Rebekah Sim the bunny! :D
